Be an apprentice

Apprenticeships are jobs that let you work towards a qualification and get paid. There are over 700 types of apprenticeships in various fields.

Apprenticeship Levels:

  • Intermediate: Level 2
  • Advanced: Level 3
  • Higher: Level 4 or 5
  • Degree: Level 6 or 7

Requirements:

  • Aged 16 or over.
  • Apply like any other job. Employers will specify qualifications and skills needed.
  • Have a good CV and application form.

Duration:

  • Usually 2-3 years, longer for higher levels.

Support:

  • Support for equipment and transport if you have a disability.
  • Employers should adjust your job as needed.
  • College support if part of your apprenticeship.

Pay:

  • National minimum wage for apprentices, but employers may pay more. Check gov.uk for details.
