This free, in-person course gives you the skills, confidence, and qualifications to work with children and young people in a variety of roles, including Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Cover Supervisor, or Midday Supervisor.

You’ll gain three accredited qualifications that prepare you for entry-level roles in education:
- Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools OR Level 2 Support Work in Schools and Colleges (dependant on initial assessment)

Meet Your Tutor: Lisa
Lisa has been teaching Education at Futures for the last six years and nothing matters more to her than making sure her classrooms are a safe space where everyone can share their thoughts, make mistakes, and feel respected and supported. She loves to see the transformation in her students, who often join the course feeling nervous and unsure, and leave feeling confident and self-assured. Her lessons are full of discussions, real-life stories from her own time working in schools, and opportunities for her learners to work together as a team. She believes that learning should be enjoyable, so that’s what her sessions are!

Who Can Join Our Training?
If you live in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby, or Derbyshire, you can take part in our face-to-face training only.
If you live outside these areas, face to face training isn't available but you can still join us through our online courses.
To take part, you must be:
- 19 years or older, and
- Either claiming unemployment benefits or earning under £25,750 per year.
- Additional rules may apply if you're an asylum seeker.
There may also be other location-based restrictions, so please get in touch with us before applying to make sure you're eligible and to get more details. More info
