Looking to inspire the next generation? Our Education training pathway is the perfect starting point for anyone eager to begin a career in schools or colleges. This free, in-person course gives you the skills, confidence, and qualifications to work with children and young people in a variety of roles, including midday supervisors, after school and breakfast club leaders, invigilators, care assistants, cleaners or, if progressing onto our Level 2 programme: Support Work in Schools and Colleges, potential roles as teaching assistants, learning mentors and cover supervisor roles.

Meet Your Tutor: Mark Smith

I am an experienced educator with a diverse background in mainstream secondary education, alternative provision, and apprenticeship training. Throughout my career, I have supported learners of all ages and abilities, developing inclusive teaching strategies that help individuals achieve their full potential in both academic and vocational settings.

My teaching experience includes working within mainstream schools, where I have delivered engaging and accessible lessons, as well as alternative education environments, supporting learners who require personalised approaches to learning and development. In addition, I have extensive experience in apprenticeship training, helping learners gain industry-recognised qualifications while developing practical workplace skills.

Who Can Join Our Training?

If you live in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Derby, or Derbyshire, you can take part in our face-to-face training.

To take part, you must be:

Aged 19 or older as of 31 August 2026;
Unemployed or earning under £26,800 per year;
Additional rules may apply and we will advise you accordingly.
