After more than 25 years as a dedicated care worker, Julie faced an unexpected challenge - redundancy. In her 60s and unsure of her next steps, she turned visited the Futures Mansfield centre for guidance. With limited IT skills and concerns about her physical ability to continue in care, Julie needed support to reimagine her future.
What she found was a community that helped her rediscover her confidence, purpose, and a new career path.
Julie’s redundancy left her uncertain and anxious. She worried about her ability to continue in physically demanding roles and felt overwhelmed by the digital skills needed for modern job searching. She needed personalised support to explore new options and rebuild her confidence.

Julie is now preparing to start her new role in care support, pending DBS clearance. She’s settled into her new home, completed her course, and is already planning to pursue higher-level qualifications.
